To me, what made that movie great was the combination of -- Morgan’s narrating voice and Tim’s seemingly fragile structure. I heard also that Tom Cruise was one of the early candidates for the role of Andy Dufresne. However, I must say that I am not sure whether that was the case or not. I ❤ the movie, anyway. But before turned into a Broadway musical on stage followed last year by the 2023 hit, he starred a southern land person who says to her Get Off My Land in The Color Purple no not her voice dubbed by Patti LaBelle. But later, we will hear Jacqueline Stewart saying about the late actor who also appeared in the Emmy award winning film and other movies. Who's the character in The Color Purple and name Whoopi Goldberg's character? Sci-fi Mike said No. I can't believe he left us. He was the inspiration and SMtWalker said. Louis Gossett Jr. was a class act. He made every film he was in, better. Thanks, TCM, for a lovely, classy tribute to him. I love that they do these, but I wish they would return to the fade in/fade out slower version of showing the people. As it is, there is hardly time to register one person before they move on to the next. We do NOT need the "entertainment" going on at the same time, either, it's a terrible distraction. Slower and more solemn is better, IMO.

Not only is this tribute to our departed stars but downtown Atlanta never looked better.

It's a shame that, at the end, when "the boy next door" that Esther (Judy) has been hoping to meet finally makes it to his seat, TCM pops up two screens covering him. We miss the emotional ending of the song.

He is a brilliant man! Joan Crawford was a true Hollywood Icon. Unfortunately, the Mommy Dearest movie has overshadowed all of her accomplishments.

She used to be my customer at our food market in the Kings Road Chelsea . Indomitable spirit . Always very lovely with everyone especially small children. She was the queen of sampling. Everyone knew she was famous but they didn’t know what for and tbh didn’t care either. Her Diva like presence is sorely missed .

I think we the people are responsible for that. We cling to and drag down our stars. We have to back off and let them just be people. They give so much and all we do is take Whether it's her or Donald Trump, we have to give them their space. They owe me nothing and they are not my salvation. They are a gift to us. I admire, respect and am grateful for their existence.

The creator of Falcon Crest really dropped the ball not bringing Falcon Crest back before Jane died, even if it was a mini series or reunion tv movie. We need a #FalconCrest reboot !
